Another "New" Publication
Some Recollections of the Civil War. This 26-page booklet republished from a 1911 Dalton Argus article was written by Private Joseph Bogle.
It is his first hand account of serving in the 40th Georgia Regiment, C. S. A.
A real gem for collectors of primary source CW memorabilia.
As always, come to the Archives to  purchase your copy, pricing and mailing information on book list.

Historic Murray Calendars Now Available

The Whitfield-Murray Historical Society announces that the 2012 edition  of the Historic Murray County calendars are now available at Pat’s Antiques in Chatsworth and at the Crown Gardens and Archives in Dalton.  The cost is $7.00 and the proceeds go to the continued maintenance of the Historic Wright Hotel in Chatsworth.

The 2012 calendar features a century-old photograph of the Chief Vann House on the cover while other historic images in the calendar include Southern Talc Mill in Chatsworth, the Sam Carter Home at Rock Spring, the old Winkler home near Cool Springs, Eton churches, a New Hope Baptist Church group, and Chatsworth street scenes as well as pictures from the Davis, Colvard, Wilbanks, and Jones families from around the County.

These historic calendars have been a tradition since the 1980’s.  Pictures are provided by members and friends of the Historical Society.  The calendars are designed and printed by First Impressions Printing in Chatsworth.
